10Web Booster WordPress Plugin Arbitrary File Upload Vulnerability
Worried this affects your website?
The 10Web Booster WordPress plugin is vulnerable to an arbitrary file upload flaw in all versions up to and including 2.34.10, via the compressCustom function.
The issue is caused by missing file type validation and extension filtering on the page_id parameter, combined with a world-readable leaked nonce that bypasses authentication checks. This allows unauthenticated attackers to upload potentially executable files, leading to remote code execution.
- Affected versions: all versions up to and including 2.34.10
- Vulnerability type: arbitrary file upload via compressCustom
- Impact: unauthenticated remote code execution
- Precondition: obtain the plugin's REST nonce (tenwebio_rest), which is automatically serialized to a world-readable file under wp-content/uploads/ whenever a bulk optimisation batch pauses
- Nonce context: generated in a cron/loopback context with a user ID of 0, making it valid for unauthenticated visitors
